* ** OB Scrub Technologist*
* ** A Brief Overview
** The OB Scrub Tech assists in Labor & Delivery, the Nursery and on the nursing unit as directed by a Registered Nurse. This employee answers phones, enters orders in Meditech as requested by physicians and nursing personnel, and participates in planning and implementing the patient care under the supervision of the Registered Nurse and based on the Nursing Process. This includes assisting the surgeon during operative procedures, ensures the operating suite is adequately prepared for the procedure, monitors PAR levels of supplies and equipment, and participates in the cleaning and sterilization of surgical instruments.

** What you will do
*** Follows proper etiquette when answering phones
* Accurately and appropriately places orders in EMR;
* Accurately prepares patient charts, outpatient packets and filing of prenatal data.
* Assures Labor & Delivery logbook is accurate & complete following a delivery.
* Keeps other nursing personnel notified of changes
* Ensures supplies are available in the Nursery, PPE cabinets and daily linen preparation for staff use during ADL’s
* Assist with toileting and feeding patients as directed by the Registered Nurse.
* Assists the Circulator in proper positioning of the patient.
* Demonstrated proper scrub/sterile techniques.  
** Education Qualifications
*** High School Diploma and graduate from an accredited Surgical Technologist program maintaining the Surgical Technologist Certification administered by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or its successor. Upon completion of an accredited program for surgical technologists, graduates may practice for up to 3 months before completing certification by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting or its successor.

Complete 15 hours of continuing education to remain qualified for employment annually
* High School Diploma and completion of an appropriate training program for surgical technology in the United States Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, or Coast Guard or in the United States Public Health Service. Complete 15 hours of continuing education to remain qualified for employment annually

*** Works with patients, families and other health care providers.  
** Licenses and Certifications
*** Certified Surgical Technologist - National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting
* Basic Life Support Certified - American Heart Association  
** Physical Demand
