What a day looks like as a Certified/Registered Medical Assistant
  • Escort patients to exam rooms, interview patients, record vitals and document all information in the patient’s chart
  • Instruct patients about medications and special diets as directed by the provider
  • Explain treatment procedures to patients
  • Prepare patients for examination and assist the physician during exams
  • Collect and prepare laboratory specimens and perform basic lab tests
  • Maintain exam rooms, instruments and sterilization supplies
  • Administer medications as directed by the physician
  • Perform blood collection following OSHA universal precautions
  • Remove sutures and change dressings
  • Maintain logs and required checks (e.g., refrigerator temperatures, emergency medications)
  • Process messages from patients and front‑office staff to providers
  • Meet position requirements and perform essential functions
  • Complete mandatory training as required
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
  • Demonstrate commitment to superior customer experiences with a service‑oriented attitude
  • Collaborate with others to coordinate care, resolve concerns and address patient, family, physician and employee needs
  • Identify and eliminate safety risks
  • Respect patient privacy and comply with HIPAA guidelines
  • Communicate professionally and appropriately at all times
  • Build strong working relationships with co‑workers and staff
  • Analyze and solve problems
  • Accept responsibility for decisions and actions
  • Utilize appropriate resources to execute responsibilities efficiently
  • Adhere to regulatory and company policies and procedures
Requirements & Qualifications
  • Must have an active RMA/CMA certificate
  • Must be CPR certified
  • Experience in a pediatric medical practice preferred
  • Working knowledge of computer applications; prior experience with electronic medical records preferred
  • Strong verbal, reading and writing skills
  • Ability to work independently without direct supervision
  • Detail‑oriented decision‑making and time‑management skills
