Housekeeper – Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (BHDD), Office of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (OIDD)

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the housekeeping of assigned building wings.
  • Ensures a supply of cleaning supplies.
  • Ensures proper safety and use of cleaning supplies.
  • May serve as lead of a small group of custodial workers; assists with training new employees when needed.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

This position is located at the Thad

E. Saleeby Center, an Intermediate Care Facility for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF-IID) of BHDD-OIDD located in Hartsville, SC serving residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Experience in custodial and/or housekeeping is required.

Qualifications

Knowledge of how to properly carry out custodial, housekeeping or pest control tasks.

Knowledge of custodial and housekeeping standards and requirements, and safety practices relevant to the area of employment.

Skill in the use of cleaning tools and equipment.

Ability to read and write legibly and follow oral and written instructions.

Ability to keep accurate written records.

Ability to train new employees in the proper performance of their duties.

Physical ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, grasp, and perform repetitive motions.

Employment Contingency

Employment is contingent upon receipt of required pre‑employment screenings: medical screening (including drug screening), background record checks (including fingerprinting), South Carolina Department of Social Services’ Child Abuse and Neglect Central Registry screening, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General “List of Excluded Individuals/Entities” screening, South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles driving record check, and a review of transcripts verifying educational credentials.

Immunization

If this position requires the applicant to work directly with consumers, tuberculosis (TB) skin or blood testing must be completed prior to beginning employment. All new employees who are healthcare providers must provide documentation of immunity or be immunized against measles, mumps, rubella, pertussis, varicella and hepatitis B before starting work.

In accordance with the State's Disaster Plan, employees may be required to work in times of emergency or disaster.
