Responsibilities- Serve as an entry-level direct support professional under the direct supervision of the Direct Support Professional III.
- Ensure health and safety of each consumer while following the prescribed behavior support plan (BSP), dining protocol, lifting protocol, and training and service programs as outlined in the individual support plan. As an essential employee, work overtime to ensure consumer safety and supervision as needed based on activities and weather conditions. Report to duty as outlined in policy and procedures and assume accountability of the assigned individuals.
- Follow sound professional techniques while providing direct, hands-on care to all consumers as needed. Participate in training and provide guidance to consumers in activities of daily living skills. Transport and monitor consumers to and from off-campus appointments, programs, and activities.
- Implement training and service programs as outlined in the individual support plan, assist with daily activities, and engage consumers in group activities in accordance with ICF-IID active treatment standards.
- Complete timely and accurate data collection and/or assessments. Maintain documentation in compliance with agency and office policies. Provide input and engage as an active member of the interdisciplinary team. Participate in team meetings and required staff meetings.
- Report significant events and suspected abuse immediately per agency and office policies and procedures.
- Maintain a safe, orderly, neat, and clean environment for all consumers.
- Follow all agency and office policies and procedures and perform additional duties as required.
Positions are located at Pee Dee Regional Center, an Intermediate Care Facility for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF-IID) of BHDD-OIDD, Florence, SC, serving residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Additional NotesIn accordance with the State’s Disaster Plan, employees may be required to work during emergencies or disasters.
Compensation and BenefitsThis position is eligible for up to $3.50/hour shift differential for applicable shifts.
Sign-on bonus distribution: after three, six, nine, and twelve months of successful continuous full-time employment.
Requirements
A High School Diploma or GED. Administrative abilities, general knowledge of intellectual disabilities, basic computer skills (Telephoned documentation systems such as Therap and SCEIS Central for time and leave purposes). Knowledge of relevant federal and state regulations and basic safety practices. Valid Driver’s License.
Physical and communication requirements: lifting, pushing, standing, stooping, kneeling, and running; ability to work with individuals who may be physically aggressive or medically fragile; effective written and verbal communication; ability to work indoors and outdoors as needed.
Employment Contingency: Employment is contingent upon pre-employment screenings including medical screening (drug screen), background checks (including fingerprinting), child abuse and neglect registry, OIG list of excluded individuals/entities, driving record check, and verification of educational credentials. Immunization: If required to work directly with consumers, TB testing must be completed prior to beginning employment. New healthcare employees must provide documentation of immunity or be immunized against measles, mumps, rubella, pertussis, varicella, and hepatitis B prior to starting employment.
State Disaster Plan: Employees may be required to work during emergencies or disasters as part of the state plan.
