Job SummaryWorks independently to perform digital screening mammography imaging based on hospital policies and practice standards, under the supervision of the interpreting physician. Must demonstrate an understanding of breast anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology. Must maintain accuracy in breast positioning, exposure techniques, and image evaluation while adhering to radiation protection and safety standards. Must understand the federal regulations governing mammography practice in order to meet the standards for the performance of breast imaging.
Must have knowledge of the quality assurance policies and quality control testing for mammography within federal regulation guidelines.

Associates Degree or Graduate of an AMA approved School of Radiologic Technology

Required Certifications/Licensure:
Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT);
Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Mammography (Must have and maintain current biennium ARRT continuing education credits);
Must have received/applied for South Carolina state license with SCRQSA;
Must possess and maintain current CPR certification.
Required Training:
Must have personal computer skills and be able to perform required functions in current hospital computer system and PACS
- Exhibits knowledge of principles, practices and procedures and demonstrates competency in performing digital screening mammography imaging demonstrating all the anatomicalstructures of the breast.
- Provide and promote quality care in accordance with hospital standards utilizing the hospital,radiology and mammography policies and procedures and applied in the office setting.
- Ability to troubleshoot basic technical/equipment problems and communicate with service.
- Ability to work in a timely manner eliminating unnecessary delays in all procedures.
- Identify patient needs: comfort patient by anticipating anxiety, answer questions, maintain akind and courteous attitude, respect patient privacy and confidentiality.
- Practice cost effective use of supplies.
- Follows HIPAA Guidelines when obtaining and sending patient medical information.
- Apply knowledge of the principles of radiation protection for the patient, self and others.
- Ability to perform weekly digital mammography equipment QC to include doctor work stationtest and record results or trained in house within 90 days.
- Ability to perform monthly visual checklist, quarter repeat analysis, semiannual compressiontest, per MQSA and ACR requirements and record results or trained in house within 90 days.
- Attend quarterly QC meeting with QA/QC Coordinator and other QC Techs.
- Understands and supports mission statement, rules, regulations, policies, procedures and protocols of Lexington Medical Center.
