A Brief Overview

The Supervisor Radiation Therapy is an experienced clinical professional and frontline leader responsible for supervising daily radiation therapy operations, supporting safe and efficient patient care, and serving as a clinical resource for radiation therapy team members. This position oversees staffing, scheduling, workflow coordination, training, competencies, quality initiatives, equipment readiness, and patient and physician satisfaction within the radiation oncology department.

The supervisor delivers and supports advanced radiation therapy treatments, CT simulation, image-guided procedures, special procedures, and emergency simulations in accordance with radiation oncologist prescriptions, treatment plans, departmental protocols, regulatory standards, and radiation safety requirements. This role collaborates with radiation oncologists, physicists, dosimetrists, nurses, and service line leadership to maintain quality, continuity of care, regulatory compliance, and an efficient, patient-centered treatment environment.

What

you will do
  • Supervise day-to-day radiation therapy operations, including staffing, scheduling, workflow coordination, patient flow, equipment readiness, and communication of operational needs.
  • Deliver and support advanced radiation therapy treatments in accordance with physician prescriptions, treatment plans, departmental protocols, and regulatory standards, ensuring accurate patient positioning, immobilization, imaging, and treatment delivery.
  • Perform and support complex CT simulations, treatment setups, image-guided procedures, special procedures, and emergency simulations while applying advanced clinical judgment and technical expertise.
  • Serve as a clinical resource, mentor, and point of escalation for radiation therapy staff, students, and new team members by supporting orientation, competency development, troubleshooting, and consistent application of best practices.
  • Oversee staff competencies, annual training, ongoing education, and employee development in coordination with department leadership.
  • Participate in quality assurance, safety checks, chart review support, incident prevention, policy and procedure management, and adherence to radiation safety standards.
  • Collaborate with radiation oncologists, physicists, dosimetrists, nurses, schedulers, and other members of the oncology care team to monitor patient status, communicate treatment-related concerns, and support compassionate, patient-centered care.
  • Support department initiatives related to quality, regulatory compliance, patient and physician satisfaction, operational efficiency, cost containment, and service line goals.
  • Use electronic medical record, treatment management, and health information systems effectively to support documentation, continuity of care, and operational oversight.
  • Coordinate with leadership and make timely operational decisions that support safe, high-quality patient care and an efficient experience for patients, families, physicians, referral sources, and team members.
Education Qualifications
  • Associate's Degree from an accredited Radiation Therapy program Required
  • Bachelor's Degree in health care, radiation therapy, management, or related field Preferred
Experience Qualifications
  • Minimum four years' experience as a Radiation Therapist Required
  • Leadership, supervisory, charge, preceptor, or workflow coordination experience Preferred
