The Medical University of South Carolina seeks a Certified Medical Assistant for our Chemotherapy Infusion Clinic. In this patient-facing role, you’ll support oncology providers by preparing patients for chemotherapy, obtaining vitals and histories, and assisting with procedures within CMA scope. You’ll coordinate patient flow, manage scheduling and documentation in the EMR, and help monitor patients for side effects. Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare patients and treatment areas for chemotherapy infusions
  • Obtain and document vitals, medical history, and medication lists
  • Assist providers and RNs with chemotherapy-related procedures
  • Administer injections and perform phlebotomy as allowed by scope
  • Coordinate scheduling, check-in, and patient flow in the clinic
  • Maintain accurate EMR documentation and treatment records
  • Monitor patients for side effects and promptly report concerns
  • Perform medication and supply stocking, handling, and labeling
  • Educate patients on pre- and post-infusion instructions
  • Adhere to infection control, safety, and regulatory standards

Requirements
  • Current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent) credential
  • BLS/CPR certification
  • Oncology or infusion center experience preferred
  • Compliance with state scope-of-practice requirements for CMAs
