Job Summary

The pharmacy resident will be responsible for providing evidence-based, collaborative, patient-centered care under the supervision of a preceptor. The role requires a self-directed, independent, motivated learner guided by the Residency Program Director and preceptors. The resident will conduct several projects to improve the quality of patient care, advance the profession of pharmacy, and evaluate the sustainability of pharmacy services. They will also provide medication-related education and training to health care professionals.

One Pharmacy resident position is available for one year beginning from July 1, 2024 – June 30, 2025.

Qualifications
  • PharmD degree from an ACPE-accredited college or school of pharmacy.
  • Eligible for licensure as a Pharmacist in the State of South Carolina.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Must meet the qualifications to administer vaccinations according to the SC Board of Pharmacy.

  • Effective presentation and demonstration skills, both theoretical and practical.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a demonstrated competency to interact with people at all levels of the organization.
Duties
  • 45% – Promote, manage, schedule, and conduct clinical services in the pharmacy and/or site clinic, involving interactions with patients and health care providers.
  • 25% – Develop a research initiative at the community pharmacy practice site and conduct several projects to improve the quality of patient care, advance the profession, and evaluate sustainability of pharmacy services.
  • 20% – Responsible for dispensing prescriptions, counseling patients on prescription and over-the-counter products, and managing pharmacy technicians and interns.
  • 10% – Involved with teaching opportunities and responsibilities at the practice sites as well as the College of Pharmacy, assisting the site preceptor with experiential education training for college students, and participating in classroom teaching at the College.
