Position OverviewOur growing, locally owned and managed, not‑for‑profit healthcare system is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) to join a collaborative Surgical Services team. In this role, you will play a critical part in supporting safe, efficient surgical procedures by maintaining a sterile operating room environment and assisting surgeons and perioperative staff throughout all phases of care.
This is an excellent opportunity for both experienced Surgical Technologists and motivated new graduates looking to build a rewarding career in a supportive acute care hospital environment.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare operating rooms, surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment for procedures
- Ensure sterile instruments, sutures, and specialty equipment are available and functioning properly
- Assist with patient positioning, skin preparation, and surgical draping
- Establish and maintain sterile fields throughout surgical procedures
- Perform initial and ongoing instrument, sponge, and sharps counts with the circulating nurse
- Participate in patient identification and surgical site verification processes (“time‑outs”)
- Anticipate surgeon needs and efficiently pass instruments, supplies, and equipment during procedures
- Properly prepare, label, and handle surgical specimens
- Assist with patient transfers, lifting, and positioning using safe body mechanics
- Clean, inspect, and prepare instruments for terminal sterilization
- Support terminal cleaning and turnover of operating rooms between procedures
Follow infection prevention protocols, standard precautions, and appropriate PPE usage at all times - Maintain professionalism and positive communication with patients, families, physicians, and coworkers
- Certification through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to sterile technique
- Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced surgical environment
- Dependable, flexible, and team‑oriented mindset
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Willingness to learn and grow within the surgical setting
