Overview

The Director of Banquet Operations collaborates with the Events Management function and other hotel operations teams to develop and execute banquet and catering programs, processes, and standards for Wild Dunes Resort, which spans 38,000 square feet of meeting space. The role strategically manages daily operations of Event Services, Set‑Up, and Beverage functions, ensuring guest service expectations, employee experience, and revenue objectives are met while partnering closely with all hotel departments.

Responsibilities
  • Direct and lead the Event Services (Banquets), Set‑Up, and Beverage departments, working closely with Events Management and other operations teams.
  • Coach and motivate staff to achieve exceptional guest service and departmental engagement.
  • Lead and develop direct reports, managers, assistant managers, and supervisors.
  • Understand and respond quickly to complex business matters.
  • Impact and achieve meeting planner satisfaction scores.
  • Ensure proactive communication and execution of client changes by reviewing banquet event orders daily.
  • Oversee timely setup and maintenance of all functions and meetings, meeting food, beverage, and meeting specifications.
  • Proactively review staffing and equipment needs.
  • Coordinate and execute events with culinary, stewarding, and other support staff.
  • Develop innovative and creative décor for banquet spaces.
  • Manage short‑ and long‑term banquet functions in front and back house.
  • Establish and enforce the highest standards of quality service through hiring, training, development, promotion, and continuous reinforcement.
  • Handle administrative tasks such as payroll, reports, forecasts, point‑of‑sale procedures, inventory, and budget for food and beverage functions.
  • Perform daily walk‑throughs of banquet department and all function spaces to ensure compliance with health regulations and corporate standards.
  • Generate ideas for special events and holiday functions.
Qualifications
  • 3–5 years of leadership experience in F&B and/or Event Operations Management, with a preference for banquet experience.
  • Full‑time management position requiring flexibility, including weekends, holidays, and varied schedules.
  • Strong desire to understand and anticipate the needs of others in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Refined verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in general computer knowledge.
  • Exceptional creativity, innovation, detail orientation, and organization.
  • Hotel or equivalent experience and thorough understanding of all levels of banquet service.

Location & Salary

Charleston, South Carolina Metropolitan Area – Salary range: $70,000.00 – $85,000.00 (based on experience).
