The Payroll Processor is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll while serving as a primary point of contact for employees and managers regarding payroll-related questions. This role plays a critical compliance function, ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local wage and hour regulations across multiple locations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, service-minded, and experienced in payroll compliance within multi-site or highly regulated environments.
PayrollProcessing & Employee Support
- Process weekly payroll accurately and on schedule for hourly and salaried employees across multiple locations and pay types
- Serve as an employee- and manager-facing resource for payroll questions, corrections, deductions, tax with holdings, and pay discrepancies
- Review and validate timekeeping records, approvals, and payroll changes across sites
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws, including overtime and pay practices
- Maintain payroll records and documentation in accordance with retention and audit requirements
- Manage payroll compliance requirements across multiple jurisdictions and work locations
- Prepare, review, and submit required payroll reports, including certified payroll where applicable
- Ensure accurate wage determinations, fringe benefit calculations, and employee classifications
- Coordinate with internal teams and external auditors to support payroll audits and compliance reviews
- Monitor regulatory changes and ensure payroll processes remain compliant
- Support payroll operations for employees working across multiple sites or states
- Ensure consistent payroll practices while accommodating site-specific requirements
- Partner with site managers to resolve payroll issues efficiently and accurately
- Assist with onboarding new locations or projects from a payroll and compliance perspective
- Partner with HR, Finance, and Operations to ensure alignment between payroll, compliance, and operational needs
- Support internal reporting, data requests, and payroll process improvements
- Assist with payroll system audits, upgrades, and process documentation as needed
- 3+ years of payroll processing experience
- Strong working knowledge of payroll compliance and wage and hour laws
- Experience supporting payroll across multiple sites, locations, or jurisdictions
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Proficiency with payroll systems and Excel or similar reporting tools
- Experience with certified payroll and prevailing wage requirements
- Familiarity with multi-state or multi-site payroll operations
- CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) or similar certification a plus
