Position Overview
The Safety Compliance and Training Coordinator assists with the administration of health, safety, and environmental operations within the Human Resources department, specifically supporting assigned distribution center (DC) locations. This role provides specialized support for various HR and safety functions, including regulatory compliance, safety training, accident investigation, and organizational culture development.
The Safety Compliance and Training Coordinator works closely with DC managers, supervisors, and the Director of Human Resources to promote compliance, employee engagement, safety, and a positive workplace environment aligned with company policies and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
Safety Compliance & Documentation
- Support compliance with OSHA and labor law regulations at the DC level.
- Ensure proper documentation of safety inspections, incident reports, and compliance-related records.
- Maintain accurate safety data within HRIS platforms and employee files.
- Conduct safety-specific new hire orientation to ensure a compliant and safe onboarding experience.
- Track and follow up on mandatory safety training, certifications, and documentation.
- Assist in promoting DMA's "Listen, Learn, and Collaborate (LLC)" training initiatives as they relate to workplace safety.
- Serve as a first point of contact for employee safety inquiries and concerns.
- Provide guidance on company safety policies and assist with coaching or corrective actions under DOHR direction.
- Support DOHR in conducting accident investigations and resolving safety-related employee issues.
- Promote a culture of respect, safety accountability, and inclusion consistent with DMA's values.
- Participate in planning employee engagement activities and safety awareness events.
- Assist in generating HR and safety reports on incidents, OSHA logs, and other safety metrics.
- Use HRIS platforms (e.g., Paylocity) to manage employee information and safety compliance data.
- Reports directly to the Director of Human Resources.
- This position typically does not have direct reports.
Key Requirements
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in Safety or Human Resources, preferably in a role supporting compliance, safety, and training. Experience in a distribution center or warehouse environment is preferred.
- Skills: Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting. Demonstrated ability to build trust and work collaboratively across teams.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with federal and state employment laws and OSHA regulations. Solid understanding of HR and safety principles.
- Technology:
Proficiency in HRIS platforms (Paylocity is a plus) and Microsoft Office Suite. - Education:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field is required; however, equivalent experience may be considered. Professional certification (e.g., PHR, SHRM-CP, or Safety certifications) is preferred.
- Mobility: Must be able to move easily throughout a distribution center environment, including walking on concrete floors and climbing stairs.
- Standing and Walking: Required to stand and walk for 2-4 hours per day, particularly during daily safety walks.
- Lifting: Occasionally lift or carry items weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Work Environment: Work is conducted in a distribution center with exposure to varying temperatures, noise, and active operational areas.
- Travel: Requires approximately 30%-40% travel between DMA's distribution centers.
