Candidate locationCandidate must be a CURRENT SC resident. No relocation allowed.
Additional Details- Candidate must have a VALID Driver's License in order to drive a State Vehicle to various locations within SC. Travel will be throughout the State, but will never exceed a business day unless otherwise agreed upon and scheduled in advance.
- Candidates should be comfortable with On-Call rotation every 3 weeks to respond to critical sites for network outages as needed.
The Network Support Specialist will be responsible for supporting and maintaining the DJJ network infrastructure and Office 365 tenant, ensuring reliable connectivity and access across all critical sites. This role includes both routine and limited on-call responsibilities for our critical sites, with a focus on wired and wireless networking, account management, and infrastructure projects.
Scope of the ProjectThe Network Support Specialist will be responsible for supporting and maintaining the DJJ network infrastructure and Office 365 tenant, ensuring reliable connectivity and access across all critical sites. This role includes both routine and limited on-call responsibilities for our critical sites, with a focus on wired and wireless networking, account management, and infrastructure projects.
Daily Duties / Responsibilities- Help Desk & Ticket Management
- Respond to and resolve help desk tickets related to:
- Respond to Wired and wireless network issues
- Network account onboarding and offboarding via custom scripts
- Infrastructure-related incidents
- Respond to and resolve help desk tickets related to:
- On-Call Support Rotation
- Level 1 Support:
On-call every 3 weeks for critical site support (Network outages) - Level 2 Support:
On-call every 3 weeks (alternating with Level
1) for escalated issues at critical sites
- Level 1 Support:
- Infrastructure Projects
- Assist in network rollouts, upgrades, and cleanup efforts
- Participate in planning and execution of infrastructure improvements
- Support documentation and inventory of network assets
- Administrative & Technical Expertise
- Provide support for Microsoft administrative tasks, including:
- Entra (Clienture AD) management
- Group policy and user provisioning
- Microsoft 365 administration
- Provide support for Microsoft administrative tasks, including:
- Assist with server administration tasks, including:
- Basic Windows Server maintenance
- Monitoring and performance tuning
- Patch management and updates
- 5+ Years of experience with Microsoft Entra
- 5+ Years of experience with Microsoft administration
- 5+ Years of experience with Windows Server environments
- 10+ Years of experience in troubleshooting skills in networking (wired AND wireless)
- 5+ Years of experience in customer service
- Experience with wiring closets
- Experience with Ruckus switches
- Experience with Deskpro Ticketing System
- Experience with Active Directory, DNS, and Group Policy
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
- Bachelor’s Degree. May sub for equivalent experience.
