IT Support, Systems Engineer

Job Responsibilities
Under the limited supervision of the FTS Manager II, performs specialized technical work statewide on SCDOT owned Intelligent Transportation Systems Infrastructure to include setup, installation, testing, inspection, maintenance and repair.
Configures, tests, installs and maintains new ITS network equipment to include cameras, switches and modems. Maintains CCTV and DMS systems to include repair and replacement to ensure 95% continuous operation statewide. Plans, schedules and inspects work performed by contractual personnel.
Oversees troubleshooting and repair of the ITS communications networks to include fiber optic cable, copper and related components. Configures, tests, installs, sets up and maintains portable camera trailers and permanent and portable message boards.
Inspects the installation of ITS elements, database data entry, collection and CADD file update. Assists Headquarters and District personnel in maintaining local ITS systems during ordinary and extraordinary events as required. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum and Additional RequirementsAn associate degree in electronics and two (2) years of related experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence. A valid motor operator's license is required.
Physical DemandsThe essential functions involve sitting or standing at a desk for extended periods of time. This position may require occasional overnight travel. May require bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, and kneeling. Walking for extended periods, treading rough terrain, working in close proximity to motoring traffic, and in natural environmental hazards. May be required to work outside normal business hours or respond to emergency situations.
