Position: Student Intern - Helpdesk Support (Pool)
Location: Columbia

We are seeking applicants for the following positions:

  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Cybersecurity
  • Information Technology

The Student Intern will be under the general supervision of the Cybersecurity and Artificial Intelligence Instructor/Coordinator. Student Interns will be responsible for assisting with computer and technical assistant tasks received by Denmark Technical College's Information Technology department.

Responsibilities
  • Helpdesk Support:
    Serve as the first contact for customers; perform remote and in-person troubleshooting through diagnostic techniques. Record issues and their resolutions in a log; complete support tickets.
  • Data Security:
    As directed by the supervisor and Information Technology department, set up and install new hardware and software systems; resolve technical errors (network, connectivity, and server issues, as appropriate); install updates and software patches.
  • Instruction:
    Provide introductory computer training sessions for the campus and college community and assist with HBCU C2training initiatives.
  • College and Community Service:
    Serve on campus-wide committees.
  • Professional Development:
    Develop a professional development plan with the supervisor; attend courses/seminars/workshops as required or planned.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Currently pursuing an academic certificate or associate degree in Computer Technology or Cybersecurity. Must have a 2.5 grade point average and an instructor or professor recommendation. Must be available to work twenty hours per week during the fall and spring semesters and three to five weeks in the summer semester.

Qualifications
  • Possess strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills; be knowledgeable of the college's mission, vision, and values.
  • Must have the ability to collect and report visual data and prepare reports.
  • Intern will work under the direct supervision of the instructor/coordinator and is guided by the policies outlined in the operating policies and procedures of the College, the division, the instructional area, and the State Board for Technical and Comprehensive Education.
  • May be required to work during evening and weekend events at the main campus and off-campus instructional sites and work additional hours during peak event periods.
