The Network Change Team is responsible for making the changes required to facilitate all connectivity for the entire Blue Cross Organization. This team plays a crucial role in ensuring the security, efficiency, and reliability of the organization's network infrastructure. Their responsibilities include:
- Security Remediations:
Implementing measures to address vulnerabilities and enhance the security posture of the network. - Network Migrations:
Managing the transition of network services and systems to new environments or platforms. - New Implementations:
Providing comprehensive network support to ensure seamless connectivity for new business applications, enabling them to operate efficiently and securely. - Automation:
Utilizing advanced automation tools and techniques to streamline network processes and reduce manual intervention. - Next Generation Network (Cisco ACI):
Leveraging Cisco Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI) to build a scalable, agile, and secure network.
This position requires a clearance which requires U.S. citizenship to obtain.

Position PurposeResponsible for the most complex project driven work assigned to the area within the framework of Deployment Management Methodology (DMM). Assesses customer requirements and approved technical solutions developed by the solutions team, determines complex infrastructure changes (for both server and network) required to deploy the solution, and creates detailed deployment specification documents to be used by deployment teams for making infrastructure change.
Incorporates guidance from other areas such as Architecture, Security and Operations.
- Results-oriented, structured, and fast paced, multi-platform environment which may require action and response 24X7 to support the technical business needs of the customer.
- Team members are expected to maintain a high degree of professionalism and work with minimal supervision.
- Enforce infrastructure architectural standards through the ongoing review and acceptance of Technical Solutions' project deliverables.
- Assess and determine server specifications to meet project requirements, including number and size of non-host (distributed) servers, storage specifications, security membership, operating systems, etc. Produce project deliverables/documentation in the form of detailed "build" specifications. Routinely design and specify server infrastructure requiring expertise in two or more operating system platforms.
- Assess and determine network design specifications to meet project requirements, including all connectivity, network equipment, network placement, data center placement, IP address assignments, and firewall rules. Produce project deliverables/documentation in the form of detailed "build" specifications and network diagrams.
- Provide Network/IP address assignments for non-project requests. Perform non-project technical consultation with Customers, Client Advocates, or Application Owners.
- Assess existing network infrastructure and produce detailed network diagrams to meet special requests (not deployment projects), for example, to respond to requests associated with a security compliance audit.
- Mentor less experienced engineers.
Required Education
- Bachelor's in a job-related field.
- Associate's degree plus an extra 2 years job-related experience for a total of 10 years of required work experience (see "required work experience").
OR
- 12 total years required work experience.
- 8 years of hands‑on experience building or supporting IT infrastructure (servers and/or networks).
Skills and Abilities
- Advanced knowledge of server technology and associated operating systems (Windows Server, AIX, Linux, and/or Sun); advanced knowledge of network technologies and TCP/IP.
Microsoft Office and Visio.
