Systems Administrator, Systems Engineer, IT Support
Job Summary
We are seeking an IT Systems Engineer to support equipment in a mixed environment (Mac, Windows, other platforms) from design through implementation and support at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville. The role reports to the IT Operations Manager and works with various institutional stakeholders.
Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 1+ years of related experience, or equivalent combination of certification, training, education, and/or experience.
- Experience with Jamf management and implementation.
- Security administration experience or other relevant technical skills.
- Understanding of computer engineering, complex system development methods, system testing practices, IT equipment and procedures, production schedules, databases and SQL.
- Advanced certifications (CCNA, MCSE, MCITP), skills in IT installation, programming, system maintenance, and VMware virtualization technology.
- Project management of complex projects, interdisciplinary teams, administration of staff and policies.
- Professional communication, teamwork, leadership, and fostering a welcoming work environment.
Develop Systems – Coordinate system development tasks including design, integration, testing, VMware administration, hardware deployment, image management (Horizon View, App Volumes) and Azure Power Automate tasks.
Test Systems – Oversee and test new and existing systems, develop action plans based on technical specifications.
Maintain Systems – Provide documentation, monitoring, troubleshooting; support users, manage database administration (MS SQL, MySQL), Web Help Desk, Paper Cut, ADUMS, Palo Alto Firewall, MS Teams, Olympus Net Image Server, Asset Panda, AWS, Jamf, Meraki, Unitrends backup, SSL certificates.
Support Services – Deliver tier I and II help desk support for hardware, software, virtual desktops and Simulation IQ, setup and support end‑user equipment.
Other Duties – Assist across the team with IT environment support and backup duties as needed.
