Work Location:

Fully Onsite. Work will involve frequent site visits to remote office locations across South Carolina. Travel within the state may include extended hours.

Daily Duties / Responsibilities

The network administrators, under the guidance of the assigned Network Operations Center Manager, will coordinate daily/weekly assignments for deployment, support, diagnostics, and troubleshooting of the Agency's critical enterprise architecture. They will work with Network, Security, and other IT professional groups and non-IT staff to assist with problem resolution, mitigation of issues, and provide technical solutions. They will ensure assignments are completed accurately and on-time, and provide progress, task, and deliverable updates to the assigned project manager.

  • Support enterprise network and identity initiatives including SD-WAN deployment, PKI lifecycle management, and secure authentication services.
  • Monitor, identify, and remediate issues with Agency enterprise network and identity services.
  • Support network connectivity and authentication services on Windows-based systems.
  • Support connectivity and secure access on mobile devices (e.g., Apple devices).
  • Manage the network and identity infrastructure lifecycle at all stages.
  • Create and maintain network documentation (e.g., diagrams, coverage, and design documentation).
  • Assist with deployment, configuration, and support of SD-WAN, PKI, and secure authentication solutions.
  • Perform enterprise network deployments, installations, and upgrades; this includes maintaining comfort working on a ladder and ability to lift 40 lbs.
  • Perform firmware/software/security/feature upgrades across network and identity platforms.
  • Monitor Agency trouble ticket system and complete assigned network, authentication, and connectivity tickets.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Serve as the Agency's primary support resource for network and access-related technical issues and troubleshoot most common/routine problems.
  • Assist Agency staff/contractors in resolving network, authentication, and connectivity-related problems.
  • Coordinate and assist with testing and validation of network and identity solutions.
  • Adhere to State and Agency security and IT policies and standards.
  • Work closely with key stakeholder groups, including Network, Security, and Server Hosting, to ensure appropriate engagement.
  • Assist various IT groups with other tasks such as system/network installations and upgrades (e.g., racking equipment).
  • Create, maintain, and review/improve upon network and identity documentation.
  • Plan, organize, review, and implement associated project milestones to completion.
  • Provide updates to Project Team.
  • Perform other tasks and duties as assigned.
Required Skills (rank in order of importance)
  • 3+ Years of Experience with Enterprise Network Infrastructure and LAN Administration.
  • 3+ Years of Experience with installing, configuring, and troubleshooting switches and wireless access points.
  • 3+ Years of Experience with SD‑WAN, PKI, and secure authentication services.
  • 3+ Years of Experience with troubleshooting network connectivity on Windows and mobile devices.
  • 3+ Years of Experience with creating, reading, and maintaining network documentation and diagrams.
  • Preferred Skills (rank in order of importance)
  • Any current or previous network certifications (CompTIA, Cisco, Microsoft), active or inactive; include status on resume.
  • Cisco Networking Academy or similar bootcamp/training.
  • Additional Skills
  • Ability to perform on-site physical network work, including lifting 40 lbs and working on ladders.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel statewide to remote sites with a state or personal vehicle.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with both technical and non-technical staff.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Required Education

    Associate's Degree in a relevant field or high school diploma with equivalent work experience.

    None. Preference may be given to certified applicants based on overall experience.
