Mainframe System Programmer

Contract duration: 12 Month contract with potential for extension or conversion

We are seeking an experienced IBM MQ Systems Programmer to support and maintain our enterprise messaging infrastructure on the mainframe. This role is critical to ensuring reliable, secure, and efficient data movement between systems across the organization.

The ideal candidate will have deep hands‑on experience with IBM MQ on z/OS, including building and maintaining queue managers and queues, troubleshooting production issues, and supporting ongoing system enhancements.

• Administer and support IBM MQ (v9.3) on z/OS mainframe environments
• Create, configure, and maintain queue managers and queues
• Monitor system performance, including queue depth and message flow
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues across test and production environments
• Support internal customer requests for messaging solutions and enhancements
• Install, upgrade, and configure MQ software and related components
• Analyze error logs and system reports to proactively address issues
• Manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment

• 6+ years of IT experience, including systems programming or mainframe support
• Strong hands‑on experience with IBM MQ on z/OS (currently v9.3)
• Proven experience creating and maintaining queue managers and queues required
• Experience with JCL and mainframe/host systems
• Ability to troubleshoot complex system and messaging issues
