GIS Analyst - Fort Jackson, SC

Position Summary

The GIS Analyst position provides support to Fort Jackson, SC. The candidate will create, update, manage, and perform quality control of SRP/ITAM GIS data for the Army. This includes updating and editing data as needed and conducting fieldwork to ground truth data and support other SRP functions. The role may require working in inclement weather.

• Manage geodatabase development and maintenance for all Sustainable Range Program GIS data, ensuring compliance with SDSFIE standards, metadata, and quality control checks.
• Provide geospatial analysis, cartographic products, and GIS support to ITAM, Range Operations, Range Modernization, and SRP unit training, including development and maintenance of Military Installation Maps (MIMs) per MPGD and RCMP requirements.
• Build, collect, and validate geospatial data through analysis, imagery, range charrettes, and field surveys to support SRP field operations, Range Modernization, ITAM, and Army strategic geospatial objectives.
• Offer overall SRP GIS program management, including software and hardware requirements, imagery acquisition, supplies, travel, and training needs.
• Consult with Installation Program Managers and staff on supported bases, reviewing data and providing status updates.
• Collect and evaluate existing spatial data from disparate sources and perform field data collection using GPS, orthorectification, and digitization from imagery.
• Prepare monthly reporting requirements.
• The position has no direct reports.

• Pre‑employment criminal background check.
• Must obtain a Common Access Card (CAC) and complete a NACI/SF85.
• Must pass a federal background check to remain eligible for employment by CSU.
• Eligible to work in the United States by the proposed start date; CEMML will not provide visa sponsorship.
• No foreign nationals shall be employed without prior approval of the Government.

• BS/BA degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant field (geography, cartography, Geographic Information Science, environmental science, etc.).
• At least three years of work experience in a relevant field.

• MS/MA degree from an accredited institution in a relevant field.
• Experience creating and distributing informational products.
• Experience providing subject matter expertise to an ACOM, ASCC, or a Direct Reporting Unit (DRU) with RCMP‑T related tasks.
• Experience working on public lands with multiple land management and regulatory agencies.
• Demonstrated work experience with land rehabilitation and maintenance.
• Experience operating All‑Terrain Vehicles and light to heavy equipment.
