Job Responsibilities

The Engineering Technologies Department is seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled professional to support the daily operation, maintenance, and management of instructional equipment and technology. This position is responsible for the setup, maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, and storage of teaching equipment, as well as the administration of department computers, software, and related technology. The successful candidate will ensure all engineering technology systems remain operational through regular maintenance, upgrades, and technical support, helping to create a reliable learning environment for students and faculty.

In addition to technical responsibilities, this position provides operational support to the Department Chair, Program Directors, and faculty by assisting with the training and supervision of student assistants as needed. The role also coordinates equipment inventories, audits, and purchasing activities to ensure accurate asset management and timely replacement of resources. Serving as a key liaison with Operations, Maintenance, Information Technology (IRM), and other college support departments, the incumbent collaborates across the institution to address technical needs and support departmental initiatives.

position will be located at the Midlands Technical College - Northeast Campus Minimum And Additional Requirements

An associate's degree in computer science or electronic technology and two (2) years' experience in computer programming, computer operations, data coordination or the maintenance and repair of computers; or a high school diploma and four (4) years' experience in computer programming, computer operations, data control, data coordination, or the maintenance of computers. The employee must have excellent communication skills and the ability to manage all engineering department computers and have sufficient skill with electronic analytical equipment to troubleshoot equipment and computer malfunctions and recommend and make repairs.

The employee must have a working knowledge of standard office software, be able to install and configure hardware and software for office and laboratory use and manage inventory.
