Location: Columbia

SYSTEMTEC is seeking a Network Architect for a on-site opportunity for candidates in Columbia, SC. Candidate will provide senior-level network architecture and engineering expertise to support enterprise infrastructure modernization, resiliency, security, and operational improvement initiatives. The role will lead complex networking projects while developing technical standards, automation practices, and sustainable solutions for a large-scale technology environment.

Required Qualifications of the Network Architect:
  • Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. We are unable to provide sponsorship or work with Third-Party agencies.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 4+ years of experience in enterprise network architecture and engineering within complex or mission-critical environments.
  • 4+ years of experience with LAN/WAN technologies, including Juniper routing and switching, TCP/IP, enterprise routing protocols, DNS, DHCP, and IPAM.
  • 4+ years of experience with network security technologies, including Fortinet firewalls, VPN/SASE, NAC, network segmentation, and security policies.

    4+ years of experience leading network architecture and engineering initiatives from requirements and design through implementation, troubleshooting, and operational transition.
  • 4+ years of experience with infrastructure modernization, lifecycle management, capacity planning, resiliency, and high-availability design.
  • 4+ years of experience with AWS and/or Microsoft Azure networking in cloud or hybrid environments.
  • 4+ years of experience with network automation, scripting, orchestration, and Infrastructure as Code concepts.
  • 4+ years of experience with enterprise network monitoring, observability, analytics, performance metrics, and capacity management.
Preferred Skills/Experience of the Network Architect:
  • Experience developing enterprise network strategies, architecture standards, reference architectures, and long-term technology roadmaps.
  • Experience with Aruba and Cisco enterprise switching and wireless technologies, including centrally managed or software-defined networking.
  • Experience supporting higher education, large institutional, or similarly complex technology environments.
  • Experience with network telemetry, automation, proactive infrastructure management, and self-healing capabilities.
  • Experience with virtualization, hybrid cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, zero-trust architecture, and network segmentation.
  • Relevant certifications such as JNCIP-ENT, FCP, CCNP, CCIE, ITIL, CompTIA Security+, AWS, or Microsoft Azure.
Responsibilities of the Network Architect:
  • Lead the design, engineering, implementation, and modernization of enterprise LAN, WAN, wireless, data center, cloud, VPN, firewall, and NAC infrastructure.
  • Develop and maintain network architectures, engineering standards, reference designs, technical roadmaps, diagrams, and related documentation.
  • Analyze technical and organizational requirements and translate them into secure, scalable, resilient network solutions.
  • Lead infrastructure lifecycle planning, capacity planning, high-availability initiatives, modernization efforts, and remediation of aging or vulnerable systems.
  • Serve as a senior escalation resource for complex network incidents, advanced troubleshooting, architecture decisions, and engineering challenges.
  • Collaborate with network operations, security, cloud, facilities, project teams, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders while providing technical guidance and knowledge transfer.

Columbia, South Carolina On-Site.
