Use your technical-writing expertise to strengthen the reliability, resilience, and operational readiness of a complex IT environment.

This role offers the opportunity to work directly with IT leaders and subject-matter experts to create the documentation teams rely on during day-to-day operations, incidents, system recovery, disaster response, and long-term knowledge transfer.

The work goes well beyond editing existing content. You will help recover, organize, standardize, and build authoritative technical documentation that reduces reliance on institutional knowledge and improves operational consistency.

The Senior IT Technical Writer will support a Cybersecurity Program and Documentation Recovery initiative focused on identifying documentation gaps, converting technical knowledge into durable operational documentation, and establishing standards that improve long-term IT resilience.

Working closely with a Business Analyst, IT leadership, and technical SMEs, this person will transform discovery findings, technical knowledge, process information, and operational practices into clear, accurate, maintainable documentation.

You are an experienced technical writer who is comfortable working directly with engineers, administrators, analysts, security professionals, and IT leadership.

You know how to ask the right questions, extract critical knowledge from SMEs, and turn complex or undocumented technical processes into clear documentation that people can actually use.

You are equally comfortable creating a detailed runbook, improving an SOP, organizing a SharePoint documentation library, developing a Visio process flow, reconciling SME feedback, or establishing standards for document ownership, versioning, metadata, and review cycles.

The strongest candidates will also bring experience documenting cybersecurity, infrastructure, incident response, disaster recovery, business continuity, or IT service-management environments

Develop and maintain professional technical documentation using standardized templates and conventions.

Create SOPs, runbooks, operational procedures, system documentation, application documentation, infrastructure documentation, administrative procedures, and knowledge-base articles.

Develop incident-response, disaster-recovery, business-continuity, restoration, and recovery documentation in collaboration with technical SMEs and leadership.

Interview SMEs and translate complex technical information into clear, accurate documentation appropriate for technical and operational audiences.

Create and maintain technical diagrams, workflows, process maps, and supporting visuals using Microsoft Visio.

Use Microsoft 365 tools extensively, including Word, SharePoint, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and related collaboration/document-management capabilities.

Apply consistent terminology, formatting, version control, metadata, document ownership, review dates, and change histories.
