Job Duties:
  • The Senior Network Administrator serves as a Senior Network Administrator responsible for the technical oversight, planning, design, implementation, performance, security, and continuity of DSS’s statewide enterprise network infrastructure. Exercises independent technical judgment in evaluating network requirements, resolving complex infrastructure issues, forecasting capacity and future technology needs, and recommending solutions that improve network reliability, resiliency, scalability, and operational efficiency. Provides technical leadership for network projects, upgrades, office relocations, and infrastructure improvements;

    coordinates activities with Agency staff, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders; and establishes and maintains network standards, documentation, and best practices. Serves as a subject matter expert and provides technical guidance to network staff while helping ensure the availability and continuity of network services required to support Agency operations statewide.
  • Plans, designs, implements, administers, and maintains the Agency's enterprise network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, wireless networks, switches, routers, structured cabling, and related technologies. Performs advanced configuration, monitoring, performance tuning, and troubleshooting to ensure secure, reliable, and highly available network services.
  • Analyzes network performance, capacity, availability, and infrastructure requirements to identify current and future Agency needs. Develops technical recommendations for network enhancements, equipment replacement, expansion, redundancy, and resiliency. Evaluates proposed technologies and solutions, identifies required resources, and provides technical guidance for infrastructure planning and implementation to ensure the Agency's network environment remains reliable, secure, scalable, and responsive to business needs.
  • Leads statewide network infrastructure projects including office relocations, renovations, technology upgrades, equipment refreshes, and implementation of new network solutions. Coordinates activities with Internal Operations, vendors, contractors, DTS, and Agency leadership.
  • Serves as the primary technical liaison with contracted network vendors supporting access control, wireless infrastructure, video surveillance, structured cabling, and related technologies. Reviews technical work and ensures compliance with Agency standards.
  • Implements and maintains network security controls, safeguards Agency infrastructure and confidential information, and ensures compliance with State security requirements and protection of personally identifying information (PII).
  • Develops and maintains network diagrams, floor plans, infrastructure documentation, operating procedures, disaster recovery documentation, and technical standards. Identifies opportunities to improve network performance, resiliency, and operational efficiency.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

A Bachelor's Degree or higher in information technology systems, computer science, or a related field and experience in information technology systems or a related area. Relevant experience may be substituted for the Bachelor's Degree on a year-for-year basis.

Must possess a valid driver's license. The employee must be able to communicate effectively (written and orally) and write legibly. May be required to work after hours and/or some overnight travel and must be able to lift approximately 15-20 lbs.
