The Role

What You’ll Do
  • Lead the Way: Serve as lead counsel in administrative hearings and state court proceedings to enforce civil rights.
  • Analyze & Strategize: Perform deep legal research and review discrimination complaints to determine the best path for litigation.
  • Provide Expert Advice: Guide investigators and staff on the Fair Housing Act, Title VII, ADA, and ADEA.
  • Brief Leadership: Update the Commissioner and Governing Board on emerging legal risks and policy shifts.
  • Educate the Community: Design and deliver in-house training and represent the agency at community events.
What You Bring
  • Education: A Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Credentials: You must be a member in good standing with the South Carolina Bar

  • Experience: Previous experience as a practicing attorney is essential.

    Since this role involves constant public contact, strong communication is a must.
