Carolina Legal Associates is actively recruiting for a specialized Creditors’ Rights law firm in Columbia, SC. We are currently seeking a highly skilled Paralegal to join their litigation team.
This firm operates a high-volume practice focused on bankruptcy, foreclosure, replevins, and collections. Due to the demanding nature of the workflow, the firm requires a candidate who possesses deep substantive knowledge of these practice areas and can manage a caseload immediately with minimal supervision or training.
Position OverviewThis role is critical to the firm’s litigation operations. The ideal candidate is an organized, proactive professional capable of handling the entire lifecycle of foreclosure and replevin actions. You must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where prioritizing deadlines and managing high-volume documentation is the standard.
Core ResponsibilitiesThe Experienced Paralegal will drive case progression through the following duties:
- Substantive Drafting: Independently draft and prepare complex legal documents, including complaints, summonses, motions for summary judgment, affidavits, and notices of sale.
- Case Management: Manage the replevin and foreclosure processes from inception to resolution, ensuring all statutory milestones are met.
- Sale Execution: Prepare all necessary foreclosure sale documents and handle post-sale procedures, including the drafting of motions related to the sale.
- Court Operations: Manage docketing, calendaring, and electronic filing (CM/ECF) in State and Federal Courts.
- Deadline Monitoring: Aggressively monitor dockets and email notifications to ensure strict adherence to court deadlines and client timelines.
- Compliance: Ensure all file activities comply with local, state, and federal laws, including RESPA and TILA regulations.
- Billing: Accurately track and log billable time in accordance with the firm’s specific billing guidelines.
To be considered for this position, candidates must demonstrate the following:
- Practice Area Expertise: Proven experience working specifically in Creditors’ Rights, Bankruptcy, or Foreclosure is mandatory. The firm cannot provide training on substantive legal concepts for this role.
- High-Volume
Experience:
A track record of success in a high-volume litigation environment. - Procedural Mastery: Comprehensive knowledge of the foreclosure process, bankruptcy filings, and consumer protection laws.
- Technical Proficiency: Advanced skills in Microsoft Office and experience with legal case management software. Proficiency in CM/ECF filing is required.
- Rules of Court: Deep understanding of Local, State, and Federal court systems and procedures.
- Bachelor’s Degree or a Paralegal Certificate.
