Chief Curator, SC Confederate Relic Room and Military Museum, Columbia, SC
Functions as the Chief Curator for Collections, Exhibits, and Programs, providing oversight and overall supervision of the museum's Artifact Collection, Archival Collection, Research Library, and all Internal Curatorial information. The Chief Curator is responsible for Interpretation of the Collection for all museum exhibits, which includes overseeing conception, design and interpretation, implementation, fabrication, and related programming. This position will provide oversight over all Museum programs as well as Education Programs and Outreach.
The Chief Curator supervises the Registrar, the Education Curator, and the Archivist and Curator of History. He or she is over all social media, working with the Museum Media and Promotion Company under the advice and guidance of the Executive Director. The Chief Curator is supervised by the museum's Executive Director. This position is a senior management position. The Chief Curator works independently with the advice and supervision of the Executive Director.
- A master's degree in museum administration, history, public administration or a related field and five (5) years' experience (Related experience must at least include curatorial or collections management practices, experience developing exhibits and prior supervisory experience.) Education level may be substituted by additional years of experience. Strong writing and proofreading skills a necessity.
