Position: Sr. Materials Manager (onsite)
Location: Columbia

Position Summary

The Sr. Materials Manager is a key site leader responsible for overseeing a 50+ person materials organization. The role drives the strategy and execution of all materials functions, including production control, detailed scheduling, inventory management, logistics, and third‑party logistics performance. This position ensures seamless flow of materials from raw inputs to finished goods, supporting reliable operations, regulatory compliance, and strong customer delivery performance.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and own the inventory plan for Raw, WIP, and Finished Goods aligned with AOP/SFP objectives, defining action items to achieve targeted outcomes.
  • Ensure on‑time delivery (OTD) of materials to production lines and customers by managing planning, staging, and fulfillment processes.
  • Support quarterly analysis of Excess & Obsolete (E&O), PFEP, Effective Material Planning (EMP), and entitlement, developing and executing resulting action items.
  • Coordinate with manufacturing to manage changes in production priorities or order modifications.
  • Champion continuous improvement for material planning, receiving, storage, staging, and WIP control.
  • Assess workload requirements to ensure adequate staffing and facilitate training and development of employees.
  • Manage material strategy to support new product introduction through end‑of‑life.
  • Oversee the end‑to‑end materials process, including planning, detailed scheduling, logistics, and delivery commitments, and lead strategic inventory initiatives.
  • Account for inventory control (e.g., cycle counting) and ensure stock levels meet site NITO targets.
  • Play a key role in manufacturing automation, material release, handling methods, kitting strategy, and material movement methods.
  • Support business SIOP process and S&OE execution performance.
  • Monitor and report on key metrics (Inventory, NITO, Inventory accuracy, MPS adherence) and align with organizational goals.
  • Represent materials in the Program Management Team (PMT) and tier meetings with value‑stream leaders/program managers.
Required Qualifications
  • University degree or equivalent experience with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with a minimum of 7 years of related experience.
  • SAP experience.
  • Capacity planning or equivalent experience.
  • Leadership experience.

  • Aerospace industry experience.
  • Experience driving product flow and on‑time delivery.
  • Program management experience.
  • Collins organizational change management experience.
  • Energetic management and planning experience.

Compensation

$145,600 – $276,800 USD per year (good faith estimate).
