Job Responsibilities
- Coordinate all activities between the U.S. post office and the institution.
- Deliver and pick up all mail.
- Receive U.S. post office and United Parcel Service packages.
- Supervise inspection of all mail for contraband.
- Maintain and interpret SCDC policies and U.S. postal regulations concerning mail in an institutional environment.
- Maintain records of money instruments received and/or returned.
- Coordinate activities of the E.H. Cooper trust fund.
- Research records for the location of inmates to handle the mail appropriately.
- Supervise the receiving and distribution of U.S. and departmental mail.
- Supervise the activities of both incoming and outgoing mail and ensure packages are insured.
- Plan and schedule work assignments and employee training.
- A high school diploma.
- Three (3) years of experience in postal, courier, or delivery operations.
- One (1) year of supervisory experience.
- Successful completion of four (4) weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire.
- Associate degree or higher can substitute for the required work experience.
