Position Overview

The Department Manager for Environmental Due Diligence and Compliance is a senior leadership role responsible for the operational, financial, and strategic management of the Environmental Due Diligence and Compliance department. This position is responsible for managing technical staff, overseeing high-volume and high-value project work, and ensuring the successful delivery of services to clients across commercial, industrial, and public sectors. The Department Manager will also serve as a key liaison between corporate leadership, internal departments, and external clients to support the firm’s growth, client satisfaction, and long‑term success.

The ideal candidate brings deep knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations, hands‑on experience conducting and reviewing Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), and a strong background in environmental compliance auditing and permitting. This leadership role is pivotal to our firm's success and client satisfaction in transactions, regulatory support, and ongoing compliance management.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, or a related technical discipline required;
Master’s degree preferred.

10+ years of progressive experience in geotechnical and/or environmental consulting, including leadership and project management experience with a strong focus on environmental due diligence and compliance.

3+ years of team leadership or management experience in a consulting or corporate environment.

Professional registration (PE, PG, CHMM, or similar) strongly preferred.

Advanced understanding of federal and state environmental regulations, including CERCLA, RCRA, CWA, CAA, EPCRA.

Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.

Experience with large portfolio due diligence for real estate, investment, or corporate clients.

Familiarity with ASTM and AAI standards, vapor encroachment screening, and current PFAS regulations.

Experience managing relationships with legal counsel, financial institutions, and regulators.

Working knowledge of EHS management systems or digital compliance platforms.

Excellent communication and technical writing skills.
