General
Summary:
The Certified Weld Inspector will perform inspections of welded, lined, and coated assemblies to verify that they meet required standards.
Education and/or
Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language
Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before managers or groups of employees.
Mathematical
Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute ratio and percent and to interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to read, understand and interpret job drawings and specifications.
Computer
Skills:
Must be able to operate computer controlled hydrostatic test stand, including reading and interpreting console indicators and gauges, and using control console to conduct tests.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid Certificate of Welding Inspector (AWS QC1 CWI);
Certification as ASNT-TC-1A Level II in Magnetic Particle (MT), Dye Penetrate (PT), and Ultrasonic Testing (UT) NDE a strong plus; ability to work at heights with harness.

Ability to manage a variety of tasks with conflicting priorities.
A broad range of equipment is used in the inspection of steel pipe in various stages of production; the following list is meant to be a general list but is not all inclusive. Personal computer, automated machinery control consoles, computer controlled hydrostatic test stand.
Physical / Environmental RequirementsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands or feel; and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.
