Physical & Chemical Lab Technician Job Summary
The Chemical/Physics Laboratory Technician works in a team that is dedicated to the evaluation ofraw materials, rubber compounds, and finished tiresand hasfull access tostate of the art, industry standard capabilities,locatedin a highly desirable working environment. The Technician willbe responsible forsampleprocurement,sample analysis,and manufacturing support.
Essential Duties &Functions- Procurement of raw material and rubber compound samples from production floor
- Preparation of reagents/ solutions and mixed media test samples necessary for chemical/ physical analysis
- Lab scale weighing and mixing of natural / synthetic rubber with various additives for rubber formulations
- Chemical / physical test analysis of raw materials, rubber compounds, and finished tires
- Documentation and reporting of experimental data
- Assistance with the development of new testing procedures for the assessment of tire performance properties
- Engage and retain high-performance standards and elevate level of responsibility and performance
- Knowledge of rubber compound formulation and processing
- Extensive laboratory testing experience or 5 years production experience
- Prior experience with analytical chemical and physics laboratory equipment
- Experience with physical testing of rubber compounds
- Safe, careful work habits with attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Results-oriented with high level of initiative and self-motivation
- Experience with MS Office
This position is not expected to have supervisory responsibilities
Education and/or Experience- Associates Degree in engineering related field is highly preferred.
- High School diploma or GED with 3+ years of experience as Quality Control Laboratory Technician OR Associate’s degree in Chemical Technology, or equivalent, with 1+ years of experience as a Quality Control Laboratory Technician
- Two to four (2-4) years of manufacturing experience, preferably in a tire laboratory
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds. The noise level in the work environment may be noisy.
