Dewey Plant - Chemical Operator

Position Overview

Milliken & Company, a global manufacturing leader, seeks an experienced Chemical Operator to support chemical manufacturing processes at the Milliken Dewey Plant in Inman, SC. The role reports to a Production Manager and is open to entry‑level associates who will rotate on 12‑hour shifts with first‑third rotation to learn basic chemical and material handling skills.

• Operate forklift to move raw materials.
• Operate process computer to manufacture batches.
• Pour chemicals according to directions.
• Fill/Bag product up to 50 lbs.
• Prepare basic chemical blends.
• Perform physical/chemical testing in local monitoring station.
• Fill out batch sheets, computer records, logs, and charts.
• Participate in plant safety program and process meetings.
• Lift and manhandle raw materials and drums less than 50 lbs.
• Contribute to process improvement and innovation.
• Attend daily team maintenance meetings.
• Shut down equipment according to established procedures.
• Perform other assignments as required by the production manager.

• High School Diploma.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to climb multiple steps, lift 50 lbs regularly, pass medical clearance, and wear a full‑face respirator.
• Computer experience with Windows‑based software.

• High level of computer skills.
• Prior experience in a chemical or manufacturing environment.
• Forklift experience.
• SAP experience.

• Ability to multi‑task.
• Teamwork and independent work capability.
• Self‑direction and ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities.

• Sit at least 50% of the day.
• Stand while working at least 95% of the day.
• Move throughout the plant at least 25% of the day.
• Lift up to 35 lbs without assistance at least 10% of the day.
• Walk upstairs or use ladders at some frequency (10% of the day).
• Bend or stoop at least 10% of the day.
• Maintain adequate visual acuity to read printed material and use computer screens.
• Make decisions and reason with information as required.
