Bridge Brothers designs, engineers, fabricates, and constructs custom steel bridges across the country. Our fabrication shop supports projects from raw material to finished steel components.
We are looking for a dependable, safety-focused team member to support our coatings department, with a primary focus on sandblasting and surface preparation.
Position SummaryBridge Brothers is seeking a Sandblaster & Painter
to prepare structural steel components for protective coatings and assist with industrial painting as needed.
This role is heavily focused on sandblasting and surface preparation
, which is critical to coating performance and long‑term durability of bridge structures. The role will also support basic industrial painting tasks including coating application and material prep.
This is a hands‑on position ideal for candidates with blasting, manufacturing, shipyard, or heavy industrial experience.
Key ResponsibilitiesSurface Preparation & Sandblasting (Primary Focus)
- Perform abrasive blasting to clean and prepare structural steel components
- Load, position, and stage steel components for blasting
- Inspect surfaces to ensure proper cleanliness and preparation standards
- Maintain blasting equipment and ensure safe operation
- Monitor blasting media levels and equipment performance
- Assist with mixing and applying industrial coatings such as epoxy, zinc, and protective finishes
- Support spray, roller, or brush coating application as needed
- Help mask and prep materials prior to painting
- Inspect coated surfaces for coverage and consistency
- Follow coating manufacturer guidelines, project specifications, and safety procedures
- Safely handle blasting media, paints, solvents, and chemicals
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Assist other shop departments as needed
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Experience with sandblasting, surface prep, or heavy industrial cleaning preferred
- Industrial painting or coatings experience is a plus but not required
- Comfortable working in fabrication, construction, or industrial environments
- Ability to follow safety procedures and production instructions
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed
- Strong reliability and attention to detail
- Team‑oriented mindset
- Forklift or overhead crane experience is a plus but not required.
Industrial blasting and coatings environment
Frequent standing, bending, climbing, and lifting
Exposure to blasting dust, paint fumes, and industrial equipment
PPE required and provided
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m. EST (occasional weekends as needed)
Employment Type: Full‑time, Non‑exempt
