Coatings Expert – Structural Steel

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage all coating operations: surface prep, mixing, and application.
• Inspect coatings for thickness, adhesion, coverage, and prep quality.
• Maintain/test inspection tools (DFT gauges, adhesion testers).
• Train/mentor team members in coatings and safety practices.
• Track coating supply inventory and compliance records.
• Enforce safety protocols for paints, solvents, and blasting equipment.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years in industrial coatings, painting, or surface prep (steel/marine/heavy industrial).
• Knowledge of epoxies, zinc, and high-performance coatings.
• NACE/SSPC certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
• Familiar with coating inspection tools & standards.
• Forklift/overhead crane experience a plus.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Full-time, exempt.
