WhatYou'll Do
- Train in all areas of the Melt Shop to include Furnace, Ladle Furnace, Casting Machine, and Refractories
- Visually check from pulpit the furnace and other Melt Shop areas for possible problems and unsafe conditions
- Assist others when needed or requested (ladle furnace operator, crane operator, etc)
- Perform routine inspections and minor maintenance on furnace equipment
- Fill in as Scrap Crane Operator and Second Helper as needed
- Be alert of unsafe conditions at all times and report them immediately
- Effectively communicate with others about possible production issues, concerns, and needs
- Ensure the tasks and activities as directed by operations support management are carried out in a safe and timely manner
- Perform minor/routine maintenance or repairs as needed to equipment without the assistance of maintenance personnel
- Troubleshoot work related problems using job knowledge, experience, and by communicating with others
- Ability to work as a team player in a fast-paced environment, with excellent work ethic, attention to detail, and organizational skills
- Ability to work with exposure to extremes in temperature, chemical, dust fumes and mists, uneven surfaces, loud noise, elevated work areas, and confined spaces
- Basic computer skills
- Dependability in attendance, work completion, and flexibility to meet business needs
- Must be able to learn quickly and multitask
- Work on a rotating shift which may include weekends and holidays
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders and stairs, and stand for extended periods of time
- Able and willing to cross train as required
- Ability to work overtime as required, including planned schedules and unplanned emergency situations
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience preferred
