The Dry Kiln Forklift Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating forklifts to move lumber packages between the sawmill, dry kilns, storage areas, and planer mill. This position supports production flow, inventory accuracy, product quality, and safe kiln operations while maintaining compliance with company safety standards.

Responsibilities
  • Operate forklifts safely and in accordance with mill policies.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas.
  • Transport green lumber packages to kiln staging areas.
  • Load and unload dry kilns according to production schedules.
  • Ensure proper package placement and stacking to prevent product damage.
  • Assist with kiln loading configurations as directed by the Dry Kiln Supervisor.
  • Maintain continuous material flow to minimize production delays.
  • Perform daily forklift inspections.
  • Maintain cleanliness of forklift.

Preferred Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Lumber industry experience.
  • Basic computer and inventory tracking skills.
Required Qualifications
  • Previous forklift experience.
  • Ability to safely operate large forklifts in outdoor/industrial environments.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights and weekends.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
