How You Will Contribute

Valmont is currently seeking a highly motivated and talented individual for the Spinner Operator position in the Spinning Department. The role involves manufacturing quality centrifugally case composite shafts for light pole products according to customer specifications.

• Select the proper mold and set up as per production schedule
• Check resin gel times to ensure equipment functions properly
• Review shop drawing for accuracy; ensure glass layout and injection gun are set up
• Place the required amount and type of fiberglass inside the mold following standard procedures and print requirements
• Inject the appropriate amount of resin per drawing and environmental conditions
• When the pole has gelled, knock it out, inspect for defects, and place it in the buggy
• Remove mold and place on rack to allow cooling
• Clean and prepare the mold for further molding processes, ensuring all debris is removed
• Label and cover containers containing chemicals at all times in accordance with EPA and fire prevention standards
• Keep work area and molding equipment clean, empty all trash, put away all tools, and maintain proper location at the end of the shift
• Other duties as assigned

• Proficiency with hand tools
• Ability to understand order prints and adhere to production schedule
• Basic math skills, including fractions and percentages
• Maintain weekly supplies as needed
• Lift at least 60 lbs.
• Work in extreme weather conditions

• High School diploma or GED
• Read and follow written and oral directions
• Passion, integrity, and a drive to excel and deliver exceptional results

Incumbent will not be required to travel. Work is typically performed in a manufacturing setting. The position requires standing for extended periods, talking and listening to coworkers and supervisors, and working in a fast‑paced environment. The incumbent must reach with hands and arms, stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch. Talking and hearing are required.

Occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. The role may require work outside during all seasons of the year, and moving about, lifting, stooping, bending, climbing stairs, and kneeling in many instances.
