Toyota’s Body Production Engineering Department seeks a passionate and highly‑motivated Body Production Engineer to lead and manage new‑model projects in Toyota’s North American Body Manufacturing Shops.
ResponsibilitiesThe primary responsibility is to lead and manage new‑model projects from all aspects of body engineering in Toyota’s North American Body Manufacturing Shops, supporting the department’s objective to provide new‑model processes that meet all safety, quality, productivity, and cost targets.
- Lead process development through design, machine specification, equipment procurement, installation, safety risk assessments, dimensional accuracy investigations, and process trials based on project milestones and events.
- Manage work to achieve project KPI’s.
- Execute onsite equipment modifications during non‑production time (weekends, holidays, etc.).
- Participate in team kaizen and organizational improvement activities.
- Interact with outside groups (Body Manufacturing Pilot, Stamping PE, Plant Facilities, etc.) to divide responsibilities and resolve conflicts.
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Engineering – or – Associate’s degree in a technical field with 5+ years of equivalent professional experience in body new‑model development.
- 1+ years of automotive experience.
- Ability to work weekends, holiday periods, shutdown periods and across multiple shifts to support tooling modifications, installation projects, and project urgencies.
- Ability to work overtime up to 50%.
- Ability to travel up to 50% to support work at machine vendors, Toyota locations in North America (US, Canada, Mexico), other manufacturing locations and Japan.
- Added bonus if you have TMNA Body PE Experience, NAMC Body PE Experience, automotive manufacturing experience outside of Toyota, CAROTT 3 experience, AutoCAD experience, including the ability to read, interpret and modify 2D drawings.
- Direct working experience in a Toyota PE position outside of Body PE.
