Bonder Metal or Composite

Location

El Segundo, CA

Composite Bonder Level 2 in the Aeronautics Systems sector, responsible for bonding dissimilar materials—including composites, metal, and laminate—to assemble structures, components, and equipment.

• Read and interpret blueprints.
• Lay out articles, cut parts or materials to size, and apply liquid or solid bonding agents.
• Understand ply orientations and vacuum bagging processes.
• Operate autoclave, hydraulic presses, and ovens to complete bonding cycles.
• Control heat, pressure, and timing conditions by operating controls according to material and bonding agent specifications.
• Sand, burr, and smooth over areas; apply sealing resins to cut or exposed edges.
• Monitor and verify the quality of finished products.
• Perform repairs on composite, metal, or laminate bonded products following inspection and rework instructions.
• Verify quality of repaired products.

• High School diploma or GED with 2 years of related composite fabrication or bonding experience in a manufacturing/production environment.
• Ability to obtain DoD Secret Security Clearance and special program access.
• Ability to perform moderate strenuous physical and repetitive work, including bending, stooping, kneeling, carrying tools, lifting up to 50 pounds, working overhead or at heights, and accessing small, confined spaces.
• Capacity to work flexible, changing shifts, including weekends.
• Successful completion and passing of the ASTAR New‑Hire Training/Compliance program within a reasonable time period.
• Successful passing of a New‑Hire Physical Exam, MDA Screening, and maintenance of a respirator clearance with full compliance to respirator fitting requirements.

• Experience with hydraulic parts, aircraft fabrication, assemblies, components, and systems in aerospace, automotive, military, manufacturing, and/or maintenance environments.
• Active DoD Secret Clearance with a background investigation completed within the last six years and the ability to obtain program access.
• Experience with structural subassemblies such as rudders, flaps, and stabilizers.

• Primary level salary range: $51,400.00 – $85,600.00.
• Potential eligibility for overtime, shift differential, and discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
