Welder and Fabricator
This role involves joining, fabricating, and repairing metal and other weldable materials using appropriate welding techniques, with a strong focus on large structural steel components for NAVSEA-related equipment. You will interpret blueprints, specifications, diagrams, and schematics to select the correct welding processes and ensure completed welds meet structural and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Join, fabricate, and repair metal and other weldable materials using appropriate welding techniques.
- Interpret blueprints, specifications, diagrams, schematics, and welding symbols to determine the correct welding processes and sequence of operations.
- Weld and fit various large structural steel components for NAVSEA-related equipment in a shipyard or similar heavy industrial environment.
- Inspect completed welds to verify structural soundness, accuracy, and adherence to specifications and quality standards.
- Use tape measures and other measuring tools to lay out, fit, and verify dimensions of structural components.
- Perform structural fitting, including aligning, positioning, and securing components prior to welding.
- Apply flux core and pulse welding techniques, including MIG pulse, as required by project specifications.
- Convert fractions to decimals down to 1/16th and 1/32nd from tape measurements to ensure precise fabrication and fit-up.
- Use squares and other layout tools to ensure correct angles, alignment, and squareness of structural assemblies.
- Perform tack welding to hold components in place prior to final welding.
- Work safely in a non-climate-controlled, open-air shop environment, following all safety procedures and guidelines.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hollywood, SC.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $26.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
