Job Description
Position: Fabricator/Lead Installer
Pay Rate Range: $25-$35
Location: Allendale, MI
Position SummaryAs a Fabricator/Lead Installer at CSM, you’ll play a vital role in both leading a team and hands-on fabricating and assembling complex sheet metal and structural assemblies including ductwork, platforms, industrial systems, and dust-collection components. This role demands strong welding technique, attention to detail, and adherence to safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities- Interpret and work from blueprints, sketches, and fabrication drawings
- Perform welding on carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum components using: SMAW (Stick), GMAW (MIG), FCAW, and GTAW (TIG) processes
- Fabricate weldments and assemblies for dust-collection systems, platforms, fans, spray booths, structural elements
- Set up, operate, and maintain welding equipment, jigs, and fixtures
- Ensure weld quality aligns with AWS / ASME standards and company tolerance specs
- Conduct weld inspections, test coupons, and document results per company procedures
- Collaborate with fabricators, fitters, and project leads during on-site installation
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area, following all safety protocols
- Must be able to travel up to 75% with travel being up to 2 week increments.
- 3+ years welding experience in an industrial/fabrication shop
- Proficiency in one or more welding processes: SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, GTAW
- Experience with sheet metal welding and structural steel
- Capability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and blueprints
- AWS or ASME welding certifications (preferred)
- Familiar with welding code standards (e.g., AWS D1.1, ASME Section IX)
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and work in diverse production environments
- Strong commitment to safety and quality
