The manager will coordinate production, quality, maintenance, and dispatch while ensuring full compliance with MSHA and environmental regulations and supporting strong relationships with internal and external customers.

• Lead, coach, and develop quarry personnel (drill/blast, pit, and plant/crushing crews) to achieve performance, safety, and quality objectives.

• Plan and manage daily and weekly production to meet demand for granite aggregates; adjust schedules and priorities in response to equipment issues or operational constraints.

• Ensure full compliance with MSHA, OSHA, and environmental regulations; maintain accurate records and prepare required reports.

• Oversee drilling, blasting coordination, mucking, hauling, primary/secondary/tertiary crushing, screening, stockpiling, and loadout specific to hard rock (granite) operations.

• Collaborate with the quality control team to meet gradation and specification requirements; monitor product quality and implement corrective actions.

• Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance; schedule downtime to optimize throughput and equipment reliability.

• Maintain strong relationships with internal construction/asphalt teams and external customers; support order fulfillment and responsive customer service.

• Monitor and improve cost, productivity, and yield (blast fragmentation, crusher throughput, reduction ratios, liner wear, and energy usage).

• Ensure excellent housekeeping and organization across the quarry, plant, and shop areas.

• Perform administrative tasks, including email correspondence, timekeeping, inventory entries, inspections, and electronic file management.

• Support and lead company initiatives related to safety, employee development, and continuous improvement.

Education and Certifications

• Degree in mining engineering, geological engineering, civil engineering, manufacturing, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.

• Valid driver's license with a clean MVR required; commercial driver's license a plus.

• 1–2 years of supervisory or lead experience preferred.

• Demonstrated success maintaining a zero-injury, high-compliance safety culture.

• Strong understanding of granite-specific production considerations: blast design and fragmentation, rock mechanics, crusher selection and liner wear, screen media selection, and dust control.

• Proficient problem-solving and troubleshooting skills for mechanical/process issues.

• Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations applicable to quarry operations, including MSHA/OSHA, environmental permits (air/water), and DOT as applicable.

• Basic computer skills (MS Office, email, production and maintenance software).

• Wear and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) per company safety guidelines.

• Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance.

• Frequent use of hands to handle and manipulate objects; regular verbal and written communication.

• Regularly stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; ability to walk across uneven terrain.
