We are seeking a dependable, hands-on
Foam & Plastic Assembly Technician
to prepare and assemble the foam and plastic components used in marine seating and upholstery products. This role requires mechanical ability, attention to detail, and comfort using hand and power tools to produce accurate, high-quality components.
- Assemble foam components used in marine seat bottoms, backrests, bolsters, armrests, coaming pads, and other upholstered components
- Glue and bond foam pieces according to drawings, templates, and work instructions
- Trim, shape, sand, and finish foam to achieve the correct dimensions and contours
- Assemble plastic seat bases, backs, panels, lids, and other CNC-cut plastic components
- Install hinges, brackets, T-nuts, inserts, fasteners, and other hardware
- Safely operate drills, routers, sanders, grinders, saws, pneumatic tools, and other production equipment
- Accurately read tape measures and verify dimensions throughout the assembly process
- Follow drawings, templates, part numbers, and work instructions to ensure components are assembled correctly
- Identify damaged, incorrectly cut, or out-of-spec components before they move to the next stage of production
- Perform basic quality checks on completed assemblies
- Organize completed parts by boat model, production order, and part number
- Communicate material shortages, quality concerns, or production issues to the production lead
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
- Previous manufacturing, assembly, construction, automotive, cabinetry, fabrication, or similar hands-on experience preferred
- Mechanically inclined with good problem-solving skills
- Comfortable using hand and power tools
- Ability to accurately read a tape measure
- Ability to follow drawings, templates, and written work instructions
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Reliable attendance and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a production team
- Willingness to learn new manufacturing processes and equipment
- Ability to stand and work on your feet for the majority of the shift
- Ability to regularly lift and move materials and components
- Ability to bend, reach, kneel, and perform repetitive assembly tasks
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment around machinery, adhesives, dust, and production equipment
