Material Handler, Forklift Operator

POSITIONOVERVIEW
The Material Handler / Forklift Driver supports the AESC Blythewood repack operation by ensuring the timely and accurate movement, storage, and delivery of battery materials, components, and finished product throughout the facility. This role operates powered industrial trucks and material handling equipment to support production schedules, inventory accuracy, and shipping and receiving functions. The Material Handler / Forklift Driver is expected to maintain a high standard of safety and accuracy in all material movement and documentation activities.
SHIFTAVAILABILITY
We are hiring for both 1st Shift and 2nd Shift. Shift assignment will be discussed during the interview process. Candidates must be available for their assigned shift and willing to support cross-shift coverage as operational needs require.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Operate sit-down and/or stand-up forklifts, pallet jacks, and other powered industrial trucks to move materials, WIP, and finished goods within the facility.
- Receive incoming shipments, verify quantities and condition against purchase orders and packing lists, and document discrepancies.
- Stage materials and components at production line points per production schedules and kanban signals.
- Transport outbound finished goods and repacked battery units to designated staging and shipping areas.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and perform cycle counts as assigned.
- Operate within the facility's Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) requirements, maintaining documentation accuracy for all material movements.
- Inspect material handling equipment daily and report defects or safety concerns prior to operation.
- Maintain warehouse and storage areas in accordance with 5S and housekeeping standards.
- Support shipping and receiving functions including labeling, scanning, and system data entry.
- Follow all safety procedures for handling, transporting, and storing EV battery modules, including required PPE.
- Comply with all AESC safety policies and immediately report any safety incidents, near-misses, or property damage.
Required:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum 1 year of forklift operation experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, or distribution environment.
- Valid forklift certification or ability to obtain certification upon hire (AESC will provide training).
- Ability to operate sit-down and stand-up counterbalance forklift .
- Basic computer and RF scanner proficiency for inventory and shipping system use.
- Ability to read packing lists, work orders, and inventory labels accurately.
- Strong commitment to safety and compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
- Experience in an automotive or advanced manufacturing facility.
- Experience with WMS (Warehouse Management System) or ERP systems.
- Knowledge of FTZ inventory control procedures.
- Familiarity with 5S and lean manufacturing material flow concepts.
