Job Type: Full-Time

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Textile Take-Off Operator is responsible for accurately and safely rolling finished fabric onto frames to the required yardage. This position ensures that fabric is properly aligned, securely attached, inspected for visible defects, and changed out when the required yardage has been reached. The operator must maintain attention to detail and communicate any fabric quality concerns to the Lead Operator.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Attach fabric securely to frames using tape, ensuring the fabric is properly positioned before rolling.
  • Operate the take-off equipment to roll fabric onto the frame smoothly, evenly, and straight.
  • Monitor the fabric during the rolling process to ensure it remains properly aligned and free of wrinkles or improper winding.
  • Accurately monitor yardage and stop the machine when the required amount of fabric has been rolled onto the frame.
  • Change out frames when the correct yardage has been completed.
  • Properly secure and prepare completed frames for the next stage of production.
  • Inspect fabric continuously during the take-off process for visible defects including:
  • Immediately report defects or quality concerns to the Lead Operator.
  • Follow production specifications, work orders, and established quality standards.
  • Maintain accurate yardage and production information as required.
  • Keep the work area clean, organized, and free of unnecessary materials.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Safely handle fabric, frames, tape, and other production materials.
  • Communicate production, quality, equipment, or material concerns to the Lead Operator or Supervisor.
  • Perform other production duties as assigned.
QUALITY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Take-Off Operator plays an important role in identifying fabric quality issues before material moves to the next stage of production. The operator is expected to:

  • Maintain constant visual awareness of the fabric while it is being rolled.
  • Identify and report defects promptly.
  • Avoid rolling fabric incorrectly, crooked, or with excessive wrinkles or creases.
  • Ensure completed rolls meet the required yardage and production specifications.
  • Notify the Lead Operator of any recurring or significant defects.
SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Follow all machine safety procedures and company safety policies.
  • Keep hands, clothing, and other items clear of moving equipment.
  • Use proper procedures when changing frames and handling fabric.
  • Report unsafe conditions, equipment problems, or damaged components immediately.
  • Wear required PPE at all times.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Previous textile manufacturing or production experience preferred.
  • Experience operating textile machinery is helpful but not required.
  • Ability to visually inspect fabric and identify defects.
  • Ability to read and understand basic production instructions.
  • Ability to accurately monitor yardage.
  • Ability to work efficiently while maintaining quality standards.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to follow safety procedures and instructions.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to frequently bend, reach, push, pull, and handle fabric and production materials.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs. of materials
  • Ability to visually inspect fabric for defects.
  • Ability to work around moving machinery and production equipment.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks while maintaining attention to detail.
