HM Staffing is seeking a reliable and safety-focused Extrusion Operator to support the production of high-quality polyolefin film products. In this role, you will operate and monitor extrusion equipment, perform quality checks, maintain accurate production records, and ensure products meet customer specifications. The ideal candidate is a team player who is committed to safety, quality, and continuous improvement in a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities- Operate assigned film extrusion lines according to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Monitor product quality during shift changes and perform hourly quality checks.
- Test and verify treatment, gauge, and width specifications.
- Enter production and roll information into the plant computer system.
- Ensure products are packaged according to customer specifications.
- Provide material samples to the Quality Assurance laboratory for testing.
- Complete first-piece inspections and required documentation during product changeovers.
- Verify accuracy and completeness of all production paperwork.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area throughout the shift.
- Promote and follow all safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements.
- Report equipment issues, safety hazards, and quality concerns to the Shift Supervisor.
- Prepare for upcoming production changeovers and order transitions.
- Assist Maintenance and other production team members as needed.
- Support teamwork and collaboration across all plant departments.
- Maximize production efficiency while consistently maintaining quality standards.
- Minimum of 6 months of on-the-job training or manufacturing experience preferred.
- Experience in extrusion, film manufacturing, plastics, or a related production environment is a plus.
- Ability to read and understand safety procedures, work instructions, and operating manuals.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to solve problems, follow detailed instructions, and make sound decisions in a production environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Frequent walking, reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
- Ability to stand and move throughout the shift.
- Ability to occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds
. - Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment while wearing required PPE.
This position works in a manufacturing facility with exposure to operating machinery, production equipment, and varying temperatures typical of industrial environments. Candidates must be able to work safely and effectively while meeting production and quality expectations.
