ASSISTANT CONTROL ROOM OPERATOR POSITION SUMMARYThe Assistant Control Room Operator supports the safe, accurate, and efficient production of animal feed by operating and monitoring computerized feed-control systems. The position verifies formulas and batch data, monitors ingredient flow and equipment performance, communicates production issues, and coordinates with receiving, batching, maintenance, and loadout personnel to help maintain continuous production.
WORK SCHEDULE- Second Shift: 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
- Third Shift: 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., Sunday through Thursday.
- Additional hours, weekends, or overtime may be required based on production needs.
- Operate computerized feed-control systems in accordance with approved formulas and production schedules.
- Monitor ingredient flow, batching, mixing, and pelleting processes for accuracy and efficiency.
- Start, stop, and adjust equipment remotely through control modules and software interfaces within assigned authority.
- Verify system settings and production parameters before and during each run.
- Record and review batch data, including weights, ingredient usage, production totals, and variances.
- Follow feed specifications, quality-control procedures, sanitation requirements, and production standards.
- Identify process deviations, alarms, material-flow issues, or equipment malfunctions and promptly escape concerns.
- Follow all company safety rules and required procedures, including lockout/tagout, confined-space, and personal protective equipment requirements.
- Maintain accurate documentation and promptly report quality, safety, or environmental concerns.
- Coordinate ingredient and production flow with receiving, batching, maintenance, and loadout personnel.
- Communicate production changes, delays, shortages, and equipment issues to supervisors and across shifts.
- Assist with inventory control by tracking ingredient usage and reporting discrepancies.
- Provide production information and reports to mill leadership as requested.
- Perform approved basic system resets and assist maintenance personnel with troubleshooting activities.
- Keep the control room and adjacent work areas clean, orderly, and free of avoidable hazards.
- Participate in preventive-maintenance coordination, training, and continuous-improvement activities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED.
- Basic computer proficiency and the ability to learn automated production-control systems.
- Mechanical aptitude and the ability to understand batching, blending, mixing, or related production processes.
- Ability to follow detailed procedures, calculate or verify production information, and maintain accurate records.
- Effective communication, problem-solving, critical-thinking, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work the assigned shift and additional hours as production needs require.
- Technical or vocational training related to industrial operations, manufacturing, or maintenance.
- Previous experience in a feed mill, manufacturing facility, production-control environment, or other automated process operation.
