About the Role

The Company is seeking a Chief Development Officer & Executive Director for its Foundation. The successful candidate will be a seasoned fundraiser with a proven track record in major gift and capital campaign solicitation, including the successful closing of 6- and 7-figure leadership gifts. This role is pivotal in driving the strategic fundraising initiatives of the Foundation, particularly in support of the museum's ambitious $75 million Reimagine the Experience Capital Campaign.

The CDO will be responsible for leading donor stewardship efforts, managing a team of fundraising professionals, and maintaining strong relationships with a wide range of funders, partners, and community leaders. They must be adept at representing the Foundation and the Museum with key stakeholders and ensuring that the Foundation's stewardship efforts align with the museum's funding priorities. Applicants for the CDO position should have a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, with a preference for candidates holding an advanced degree.

A minimum of 10 years' experience in fundraising, particularly in the context of major gifts and capital campaigns, is highly preferred. The role requires a candidate with exceptional communication skills, emotional intelligence, and the ability to work in a complex, fast-paced environment. The CDO will also be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Foundation, including budget management, and must be prepared for some travel, evening, and weekend work.

Personal attributes such as being a good listener, a strong collaborator, and having a commitment to lifelong learning are essential. Experience with donor database management technology and CRM software is a plus.
