About Coastal

Coastal Community Church is a vibrant, growing church on a mission to share and experience the LIFE and LOVE of Jesus with Charleston and the world. Through our church facility, a newly acquired outreach center, dozens of monthly service projects, and strategic partnerships across the city, we joyfully serve our neighbors and help our church family live on mission every day.

We are prayerfully seeking an Outreach/Community Pastor who will join us in this calling and help us multiply the impact of what God is already doing in and through Coastal.

• Loves Jesus deeply and lives out a life of integrity shaped by the qualifications of 1 Timothy 3.
• Has a clear testimony of personal salvation and a growing, authentic relationship with Christ.
• Burns with a passion to reach those far from God and to build bridges between the church and the local community.
• Joyfully aligns with Coastal’s statement of faith and is willing to join the church family through our Membership Class and Membership Covenant.
• Brings a teachable, humble spirit, and a servant’s heart, thriving as a team player on a pastoral staff.
• Enjoys collaborating with pastors, staff, and lay leaders to move the ministry forward together.
• Has experience planning, organizing, training, and supervising service projects and outreach efforts.
• Can recruit, build, and sustain many volunteer teams and help them flourish in ministry.
• Communicates well—both in person and in writing—and connects easily with people from all walks of life.
• Is committed to ongoing spiritual, personal, and professional growth.
• Ideally has a Bible/Ministry degree from a four-year college (preferred but not required).
• May bring helpful experience from military, law enforcement, or social services (appreciated but not required).

• Lead and champion Coastal’s outreach ministry, helping our church family live on mission in Charleston and beyond.
• Provide operational oversight of The Outpost, our outreach center in Charleston and launchpad for outreach ministries.
• Oversee the maintenance and safe use of seven church-owned vehicles used in outreach projects and events.
• Plan and lead approximately 40+ service projects every month as we live out our mission: “Coastal exists to share and experience the LIFE and LOVE of Jesus with Charleston and the world.”
• Build strong, collaborative relationships with city leaders, government agencies, nonprofits, and ministry partners throughout the community.
• Offer pastoral care, encouragement, and guidance to project leaders, volunteer teams, and those we serve.
• Embrace a “whatever it takes” posture—serving nights, weekends, and in challenging weather conditions when needed—to help our church love and serve like Jesus.
